Dalkia Polska Solutions, the Polish unit of the renewable energy developer Dalkia, part of the French energy giant EDF, has signed a contract to design and build an 8-MW biomass boiler plant for Edison Next Poland. This new facility will be located in Rzeszow, a city in southeastern Poland. The project is part of Edison Next Poland’s ongoing efforts to reduce its carbon emissions and enhance its energy efficiency, according to the news report by Renewables Now.
Scope of the Project
Under the terms of the agreement, Dalkia Polska Solutions will be responsible for the complete design, construction, installation, and commissioning of the biomass boiler plant. The company will also supply all the necessary equipment and materials required for the facility’s boiler room. This collaboration is part of a broader effort to expand the plant’s capacity and support its transition to more sustainable energy sources.
Supporting Decarbonisation Goals
This biomass plant will complement Edison Next Poland’s combined heat and power (CHP) plant, furthering its decarbonisation strategy. Just last week, Edison Next Poland commissioned two new modern gas cogeneration units, marking a significant step forward in its transition to cleaner energy. The addition of the biomass plant will help the company continue its efforts to reduce its environmental impact and increase its reliance on renewable energy.
Dalkia’s Growing Presence in Poland
Dalkia has been active in Poland since 2014, focusing on the management, optimisation, and development of municipal heating networks, particularly in the southern Silesian province. In 2017, the company expanded its operations by acquiring Matex Controls, which was rebranded as Dalkia Polska Solutions. This subsidiary specializes in energy efficiency services for buildings and industrial facilities, further strengthening Dalkia’s capabilities in the Polish energy market.
With this new contract, Dalkia Polska Solutions continues to strengthen its role in Poland’s energy transition, helping to advance EDF Group’s broader goals of reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable energy solutions across Europe.
