Organic Recycling Systems Ltd (ORSL) has secured two EPCOM contracts from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), aggregating ₹167.29 crore, for the development of organic municipal solid waste-based compressed biogas (CBG) plants in Mysuru, Karnataka, and Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
The contracts have been awarded to ORSL’s wholly owned subsidiary, Solapur Bioenergy Systems Private Limited (SBESPL). The twin projects are expected to add approximately 9.8 tonnes per day (TPD) of CBG processing capacity to the company’s portfolio.
The Mysuru project carries a contract value of ₹85.56 crore, including GST, while the Raipur project is valued at ₹81.73 crore, including GST. The combined value based on the figures disclosed in the company’s regulatory filing is ₹167.29 crore.
Two CBG Projects Across Karnataka and Chhattisgarh
The Mysuru plant is planned with a capacity of approximately 5 TPD, while the Raipur facility is expected to have a capacity of around 4.8 TPD.
Both projects involve the complete project lifecycle, covering engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and operations and maintenance.
According to the company’s disclosure, execution is scheduled for 15 months from the respective Letter of Award (LOA), followed by five years of operations and maintenance from commissioning.
The projects will use organic municipal solid waste as feedstock for producing CBG, linking waste processing with renewable fuel generation.
Five-Year O&M Engagement
A key feature of the contracts is the inclusion of five-year O&M responsibilities after commissioning.
Under the EPCOM model, SBESPL will be responsible not only for project execution but also for the long-term operation and maintenance of the facilities.
The company said the contracts mark an important step in its transition from project execution towards becoming a long-term operational partner in the CBG sector.
Pankaj Tanwar, CEO – Bioenergy, Organic Recycling Systems, said the simultaneous awards across Karnataka and Chhattisgarh represent a significant milestone for the company.
“These are not just EPC contracts. They include five-year O&M responsibilities,” Tanwar said.
Expanding ORSL’s CBG Footprint
The twin BPCL awards expand ORSL’s presence into Karnataka and Chhattisgarh and strengthen its position in the organic municipal solid waste-to-CBG segment.
The projects also add to the company’s engagement with public-sector oil marketing companies in India’s growing CBG ecosystem.
ORSL has previously undertaken CBG-related projects and recently secured renewal of the O&M contract for its Gorakhpur CBG plant with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.
The company has positioned CBG and organic waste processing as key components of its broader CleanTech and decarbonisation business.
Focus on Waste-to-CBG
The Mysuru and Raipur projects reflect the increasing focus on converting organic waste into renewable fuels. CBG can be produced from suitable organic waste streams and used as a gaseous fuel, providing an alternative pathway for waste management and energy generation.
With a combined expected capacity of about 9.8 TPD, the two BPCL projects represent a significant addition to ORSL’s CBG project pipeline.
The company said the contracts are aligned with the broader development of India’s circular bioenergy ecosystem, including initiatives such as SATAT and the GOBARdhan National Circular Bioenergy Scheme.
Organic Recycling Systems
