According to the media report, Angola’s state hydrocarbon company, Sonangol, has reached an agreement with three European firms to advance the Barra do Dande green hydrogen project in the southwestern African nation.
The participating firms include Conjuncta, a German investment company; CWP Global, a renewable energy developer with existing projects in Morocco and Namibia; and Gauff, a German engineering firm known for constructing solar plants in Senegal, the news report further added.
The agreement encompasses the design, licensing, financing, engineering, and construction of the facility, located in Barra do Dande, a coastal town in Bengo Province.
News report by Africaoilgasreport.com, once operational, the project aims to produce up to 1,200 tons of ammonia daily for export to European markets. The facility will incorporate 600 MW of renewable energy capacity sourced from hydropower, alongside a 400 kV substation and essential water treatment infrastructure.
The deal was formalized by Orlando da Mata, President of the Board of Directors of the Sonangol Research and Development Center; Vladimir Machado, President of the Executive Committee of the center; Michael Scholey, CEO of CWP; Stefan Tavares Bollow, CEO of Gauff; and Julian Reichert representing Conjuncta CEO Stefan Liebing.
