Australian Premium Solar commissions 400 MW Module manufacturing plant

Australian Premium Solar has commissioned a 400 MW solar module manufacturing plant in Sabarkantha, Gujarat, strengthening its footprint in India’s rapidly expanding renewable energy sector, reported Mercom India. The new facility will produce high-efficiency tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) solar modules, aligning with the growing domestic and international demand for advanced solar technology.

Expansion Plans and Growth Targets
As per the media report, with the launch of this new plant, the company has taken a major step toward expanding its TOPCon module production capacity by 800 MW. An additional 400 MW of capacity is scheduled to become operational by April 2026.

According to Nikunjkumar Chimanlal Patel, Chairman and Executive Director of Australian Premium Solar, the expansion will help the company achieve its targeted 75% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in revenue. “The new capacity marks a significant milestone in our growth journey and strengthens our ability to serve both utility-scale and distributed solar projects,” Patel said.

Strengthening India’s Renewable Manufacturing Base
The company currently has an existing module manufacturing capacity of 700 MW and has installed over 5,500 solar water pumps across India. In addition to TOPCon modules, Australian Premium Solar manufactures monocrystalline modules and provides engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services.

In September 2025, the company received a purchase order worth ₹1.09 billion (~$12.25 million) for the supply of solar modules and inverters, reflecting strong market confidence in its product range.

Industry Context: Growing Domestic Solar Manufacturing
According to Mercom India’s research report, State of Solar PV Manufacturing in India 1H 2025, the country added 44.2 GW of solar module capacity and 7.5 GW of solar cell capacity in the first half of 2025. The surge was largely driven by a robust pipeline of 186 GW of large-scale solar projects expected between 2025 and 2027.

Capacity expansion has also been supported by India’s 2030 solar installation targets and policy-driven demand for modules that comply with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM).

Policy Support and ALMM Update
In October 2025, MNRE updated the ALMM for solar modules, adding 6,922 MW of new capacity. With this addition, the cumulative capacity of modules listed under ALMM now stands at 116,467 MW.

Australian Premium Solar’s new facility and planned capacity expansion are expected to contribute significantly to India’s domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem, supporting the nation’s goal of achieving self-reliance in renewable energy production.
