Banyan Air Service is excited to announce the availability of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at its location, becoming one of the first Fixed-Base Operators (FBOs) in South Florida to offer SAF from the newly established Port Everglades supply source. This milestone highlights Banyan’s dedication to sustainability in aviation, all while continuing to provide outstanding service to its clientele, according to the press release.
The SAF, supplied via Avfuel, is blended with 30% SAF and 70% conventional jet fuel. This blend adheres to ASTM D-1655 specifications, ensuring it is fully compatible with current aircraft and fueling infrastructure—no modifications are needed.
This blend has the potential to reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 24% compared to traditional jet fuel. Furthermore, unblended 100% SAF can cut lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80%, paving the way for much more sustainable aviation practices.
“Banyan’s introduction of SAF marks a transformative moment for both the company and the aviation sector at FXE,” said Jon Tonko, COO of Banyan Air Service. “SAF represents the most effective solution for reducing aviation’s environmental impact, aligning perfectly with our values of innovation, sustainability, and supporting our customers in their quest to fly with a smaller carbon footprint.”
This drop-in fuel option provides an easy and efficient way for operators to make an environmental difference while ensuring peak performance.
Customers can obtain SAF through Avfuel Contract Fuel, with Avfuel providing all necessary documentation for emissions reporting.
