Estonian companies Balti Biometaan OÜ and OÜ Selja are preparing to build a modern green gas plant in the Selja area. The project will focus on producing biogas from locally sourced organic waste, agricultural by-products, and other biomasses. The biogas will then be purified to remove carbon dioxide, with biomethane as the final output.
Further details, including the plant’s exact location, raw material quantities, production capacity, and technology, will be determined in the project’s next development phases.
The biogas plant is expected to create 3-6 direct jobs in the region, as well as additional indirect employment opportunities in sectors like raw material production, transport, and maintenance services.
The biomethane generated by the plant could later be used in local industries, district heating systems, and fueling stations.
