Neste, KPI OceanConnect and Global Energy partner for first delivery of Neste MY Renewable Diesel to marine sector in Singapore

Neste, a global leader in renewable products, has teamed up with KPI OceanConnect, a major provider of marine energy solutions, to deliver Neste MY Renewable Diesel™ to the marine industry in Singapore. This collaboration, which includes a partnership with Global Energy for operational delivery in Singapore waters, marks a groundbreaking moment as renewable diesel is introduced to the region’s marine sector for the first time. Notably, cruise ships and other vessels in Singapore will now be able to utilize this eco-friendly fuel.

Neste MY Renewable Diesel is designed to significantly reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across various sectors reliant on diesel engines, including transportation, mining, and construction. Produced from 100% renewable raw materials, the diesel serves as a direct replacement for traditional fossil diesel, offering up to 90% reduction in GHG emissions over its lifecycle. With a similar chemical composition to fossil diesel, Neste MY Renewable Diesel is compatible with all diesel engines, eliminating the need for engine modifications or new infrastructure.

“This first supply of Neste MY Renewable Diesel to the marine sector in Asia-Pacific represents a significant milestone and highlights the product’s versatility across different industries,” said Ee Pin Lee, Head of Commercial APAC, Renewable Products at Neste. “It’s a key solution for making the marine sector more sustainable.”

KPI OceanConnect, recognized for its leadership in providing renewable energy solutions, sees this collaboration as a crucial step in helping clients reduce their carbon footprint. “By sourcing and delivering renewable diesel, we’re supporting the industry’s decarbonization efforts,” said Jesper Sørensen, Head of Alternative Fuels and Carbon Markets at KPI OceanConnect. “This partnership is a prime example of how collaboration can accelerate the green transition.”

Global Energy, which facilitated the operational delivery of Neste MY Renewable Diesel using its Maple barge, emphasized the importance of seamless integration in the transition to sustainable marine fuels. “By working with Neste and KPI OceanConnect, we’re proud to help our clients reduce their environmental impact while ensuring efficient, reliable operations,” said Chow Munee, Group Business Manager at Global Energy.

This partnership sets a precedent for the marine sector to adopt more sustainable alternatives. By showcasing the practical use of Neste MY Renewable Diesel, the initiative paves the way for broader fuel uptake and further advancements in decarbonizing the maritime industry.
