UK-based infrastructure management company Ancala acquires 5 MW biomass facility in Croatia from renewable energy firm Akuo

As per media report, Balkan Green Energy News has reported that Ancala, a UK-based infrastructure management company, has acquired a 5 MW biomass facility in Croatia from renewable energy firm Akuo.

As of the end of March, Akuo had a total capacity of 1.8 GW either in operation or under construction, with a project pipeline exceeding 20 GW, according to the report.

Ancala has announced the addition of the 5 MW green energy plant to its Central and Eastern European EU Renewables Platform. This platform now includes two facilities that produce renewable energy from forestry and agricultural biomass.

The initial investment for this platform was a 5 MW biomass plant in Gospić, Croatia, which began operating in 2021 and benefits from long-term feed-in tariffs and supply agreements. This plant also features a wood-drying facility that enhances its efficiency.

Additionally, Ancala has acquired another green energy facility, Elektrana Grubišno Polje (EGP), along with an adjacent drying facility named Sirocco, located east of Zagreb.

The financial details of this acquisition have not been disclosed.
