Air Canada secures deal with Neste for 77.6 million liters of sustainable aviation fuel

Air Canada has reached an agreement with Neste to purchase 77.6 million liters of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

This marks the airline’s first commercial import of SAF into Canada, underscoring its commitment to environmental sustainability.

Michael Rousseau, Air Canada’s President and CEO, commented, “Air Canada is dedicated to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions, and SAF plays a crucial role in our comprehensive strategy to lessen our environmental impact and promote sustainability in our operations.”

He added, “This SAF purchase from Neste is an important step toward our goal of sourcing SAF to cover one percent of our total jet fuel usage by 2025.”

Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel will be delivered in a blended form to the Vancouver marine terminal beginning in December, with additional shipments expected throughout next year. The terminal’s direct pipeline link to Vancouver International Airport ensures the blended SAF can be used efficiently at the airport.
