Hardik Shah has announced that he has joined Reliance Industries Limited as Senior General Manager – Green Hydrogen, taking up a leadership role within the company’s expanding New Energy business.
Shah shared the appointment on LinkedIn, announcing the start of his new position with Reliance Industries.
His new role comes as Reliance continues to develop an integrated clean-energy portfolio spanning renewable power, green hydrogen, energy storage, solar manufacturing and other new-energy technologies.
Reliance expands focus on green hydrogen
Green hydrogen is a central component of Reliance’s New Energy strategy. The company says its plans include developing green hydrogen production capabilities alongside electrolyser manufacturing and renewable-power generation.
Reliance has stated that it is working towards an integrated green hydrogen ecosystem, with its Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex in Jamnagar planned to include an electrolyser manufacturing facility as one of its major manufacturing units. The company has also set a target of making green hydrogen available at a cost of $1 per kilogram within a decade under its “1-1-1” vision.
The company’s hydrogen strategy includes the development of electrolyser technology and manufacturing capabilities, with Reliance stating that it has partnered with technology providers to accelerate the commercialisation and cost reduction of electrolyser systems.
Shah takes on green hydrogen leadership role
As Senior General Manager – Green Hydrogen, Shah joins Reliance’s broader New Energy organisation at a time when the company is building capabilities across the green hydrogen value chain.
Reliance’s stated strategy extends beyond hydrogen production to include renewable electricity generation, electrolyser manufacturing, fuel cells, energy storage and other components required for an integrated clean-energy ecosystem.
The company has also outlined plans to use renewable electricity and green hydrogen in the decarbonisation of its oil-to-chemicals operations, including potential applications involving green chemicals, green fertilisers and e-fuels.
Shah’s appointment therefore adds another senior management resource to Reliance’s efforts to develop and scale its hydrogen business.
Bioenergy Business Analysis
Hardik Shah’s appointment places a senior management role within Reliance’s green hydrogen organisation as the company continues to build an integrated New Energy platform. The significance of the appointment will ultimately depend on the projects and responsibilities attached to the role, which have not been publicly detailed in the LinkedIn announcement.
Reliance’s publicly stated strategy indicates that green hydrogen is being developed as part of a wider ecosystem rather than as a standalone business. Its plans combine renewable generation, electrolyser manufacturing and downstream applications, creating potential interfaces across several parts of the energy value chain.
