Ministry of industry and tourism approves two new decarbonisation projects in andalusia worth €16.6 million

The Ministry of Industry and Tourism has granted provisional approval for two major industrial decarbonisation projects in Andalusia, totaling €16.6 million in funding. These projects are part of line 4 of the PERTE (Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation) aimed at supporting green energy initiatives in the region.

The larger of the two initiatives, a €12 million investment, will see the establishment of a biomass plant in Villanueva de los Castillejos, Huelva. The facility will generate renewable energy by utilizing orange waste, contributing to both waste reduction and clean energy production.

Additionally, a €4.6 million grant has been allocated to Biotérmica Villanueva’s project in Lebrija, Seville. This plant will focus on generating renewable energy from olive pomace, further advancing Andalusia’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

The Huelva-based project is being led by Enso, a renewable energy group, which signed a partnership with García-Carrión in 2023 to construct the biomass plant at the Don Simón juice plant.

These initiatives underscore the region’s growing efforts to foster sustainable industrial practices and transition towards a more eco-friendly energy landscape.
