Qmicro launches DynamiQ-X BG2300 for rapid biogas and biomethane analysis

The analyser uses Qmicro’s MEMS-based micro-gas chromatography technology to deliver gas composition data, calorific value and hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) measurement from a single analysis.

Rapid analysis for biogas upgrading

Qmicro said the DynamiQ-X BG2300 is designed to provide process information in less than a minute, allowing operators to monitor gas quality without waiting for longer laboratory-based analysis.

The analyser is based on Qmicro’s established micro-gas chromatograph chip technology, which uses microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology to perform gas analysis.

Its application is focused on facilities where continuous information on gas composition is important, particularly during biogas upgrading and biomethane production.

H₂S measurement across the biogas value chain

One of the key features of the DynamiQ-X BG2300 is its ability to quantify hydrogen sulfide across a wide concentration range.

According to Qmicro, the analyser can measure H₂S at approximately 1% in biogas and down to 1 ppm in biomethane.

The company said the instrument uses an inert sample path to support precise H₂S measurement. This is particularly relevant for monitoring gas streams before and after upgrading, where H₂S concentrations can differ substantially.

One analyser combines multiple measurements

The DynamiQ-X BG2300 is designed to determine calorific value, analyse overall gas composition and quantify H₂S within a single measurement.

For plant operators, combining these measurements in one online system can provide information on the composition and quality of gas moving through the process.

The approach also reduces the need to rely on separate analytical measurements for different gas-quality parameters, according to the product announcement.

Designed for international deployment

Qmicro said the DynamiQ-X BG2300 incorporates worldwide certifications, a standardised configuration and safety technologies intended for use across different markets.

The company is positioning the system for applications in biogas upgrading plants and biomethane facilities where operators require rapid and reliable gas-quality information.

The analyser’s ability to provide results within 45 seconds is aimed at supporting faster process monitoring while maintaining continuous oversight of gas composition.

Online analysis becomes increasingly important

As biogas is upgraded into biomethane, monitoring the composition of different gas streams is important for process control and gas-quality management. Parameters such as methane concentration, calorific value and H₂S levels can vary through the upgrading process.

The DynamiQ-X BG2300 is designed to address this requirement through rapid online gas chromatography, providing multiple measurements from a single instrument.

Qmicro’s launch therefore focuses on shortening the time between sampling and usable process information for operators of biomethane and biogas facilities.
