Italian Ambassador visits biomass energy plant in Croatia

Paolo Trichilo, the Ambassador of Italy to Croatia, recently toured a significant biomass energy production facility located in the Bjelovar Region, northeast of Zagreb. This project is the result of collaboration among three prominent Italian companies: Din Energo, part of the Florian Group, which is a global leader in the wood sector; Turboden, known for producing ORC modules for combined electricity and heat generation, and industrial heat pumps, with a presence in over 50 countries and more than 400 installations, including 15 in Croatia; and DHP Amarc, an engineering firm from Brianza specializing in turnkey renewable energy plants.

The biomass plant converts processed wood residues into electricity that is integrated into the Croatian national grid, while also providing the necessary heat for its production processes, all in line with principles of environmental sustainability and energy transition.

During his visit, Ambassador Trichilo met with the President of the Region, Marko Marusic, along with Vice Presidents Sasa Lukic and Tanja Novotni Golubic, who represent the Serbian and Czech minorities, respectively. Their discussions highlighted a mutual interest in enhancing cooperation across various sectors, including economic and cultural exchanges.
