Bondada Engineering Ltd, part of Bondada Group, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board (Goa-IPB) for a proposed investment of approximately ₹3,000 crore in solar energy and biogas projects in Goa.
Signed on 30 October 2026, the non-binding agreement outlines the company’s intention to develop renewable energy projects in the state. The proposed developments are expected to generate more than 700 employment opportunities, according to the company.
The announcement was disclosed to the stock exchanges on 3 November 2026.
Under the MoU, Goa-IPB will facilitate the permissions, registrations, approvals and statutory clearances required to establish and operationalise the proposed projects. The board will also assist Bondada Group in accessing eligible fiscal and non-fiscal incentives under the prevailing policies of the Goa government.
However, the proposed investment remains subject to further evaluation, statutory approvals, clearances and other formalities. The agreement does not constitute a binding commitment to execute the projects.
Bondada Group expands renewable energy investment plans
The proposed Goa investment adds to Bondada Group’s planned expansion in renewable energy. The company had also signed an MoU worth approximately ₹1,007 crore with the Maharashtra government in October 2026 for renewable energy projects with a proposed capacity of up to 1 GW.
The Goa agreement identifies solar energy and biogas as its two investment areas. However, the company has not disclosed the proposed solar capacity, biogas production capacity, project locations, feedstock arrangements or implementation schedule.
The absence of these project-level details means the scale and expected energy output of the proposed developments cannot yet be assessed.
Goa facilitates approvals and incentives for proposed projects
The Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board will support the company in navigating the regulatory and administrative processes required for the proposed investments.
Its responsibilities under the MoU include facilitating project-related permissions and clearances, as well as access to applicable government incentives.
The proposed projects could contribute to renewable energy infrastructure development and employment generation in Goa. Their eventual contribution will depend on project approvals, financing, investment decisions and implementation.
Bioenergy Business Analysis
The inclusion of biogas alongside solar energy makes the proposed investment relevant to India’s expanding bioenergy sector. However, the current announcement provides no information on the planned biogas facilities’ capacity, feedstock sources, technology or intended end use.
These details will be important in determining whether the projects are designed for compressed biogas production, electricity generation or another application. Feedstock availability and supply-chain arrangements will also influence project viability.
For the bioenergy sector, the proposed investment is an early-stage development rather than a confirmed capacity addition. The next indicators to watch are project-specific disclosures, regulatory approvals, investment commitments and details of the planned biogas infrastructure.
