NTPC REL floats tender for 1,200 MW solar projects in Andhra Pradesh

NTPC Renewable Energy has issued a tender for up to 1,200 MW of solar PV capacity near its Anantapur project in Andhra Pradesh. The package includes land acquisition, EPC works, BESS-related land and three years of O&M.

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has invited bids for the development of up to 1,200 MW of grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity near its existing Anantapur Solar Project in Andhra Pradesh. The tender covers engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), land acquisition and associated power evacuation infrastructure, with provision for battery energy storage.

Issued under domestic competitive bidding, the tender divides the proposed capacity into two blocks; 900 MW under Block I and 300 MW under Block II. Bidders can submit proposals for either block or the combined 1,200 MW capacity, subject to the tender conditions.

EPC Scope Includes Land and Power Evacuation Infrastructure

The selected contractor will be responsible for delivering the projects on a comprehensive EPC basis. The scope includes identifying and acquiring suitable, encumbrance-free land and transferring ownership or lease rights to NTPC REL.

The land arrangements must also cover the area required for the proposed battery energy storage system (BESS).

The contractor’s responsibilities will extend across the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the solar PV plants. The package also includes developing the power evacuation infrastructure needed to connect the projects to the NTPC REL Anantapur project pooling station and the interstate transmission system (ISTS) substation.

Following commissioning, the selected contractor will provide operation and maintenance (O&M) services for three years.

NTPC REL has prescribed different bid security requirements according to the capacity being tendered. Bids submitted without acceptable bid security will be treated as non-responsive and rejected, according to the tender details.

Prospective bidders must register on the ISN Electronic Tender Services portal and use tender reference code NTPCREL-2026-TN000035. A signed non-disclosure agreement (NDA) is also required to access the bidding documents.

Bioenergy Business Analysis

The tender represents another large-scale solar procurement initiative by NTPC REL in Andhra Pradesh, with the proposed 1,200 MW capacity combining generation infrastructure, land development and grid connectivity within a single EPC package.

The inclusion of land for BESS indicates that storage infrastructure is being considered alongside solar generation. Battery storage can help manage the variability of solar power and support more flexible electricity supply, although the tender announcement does not specify the proposed storage capacity, duration or project cost.

The three-year O&M requirement also places responsibility for post-commissioning operations on the selected contractor, extending the package beyond construction and installation.

For developers and EPC companies, the tender offers an opportunity to participate in a project of up to 1.2 GW, either through individual blocks or a combined bid. The final project configuration and execution timeline will depend on the bidding outcome and subsequent project development.
