Resolven signs 70 MW wind power purchase agreement (PPA) with SJVN for Karnataka project

Resolven has signed a 70 MW wind power PPA with SJVN Limited for a proposed project in Karnataka. The facility is expected to generate 185 GWh of clean electricity annually once operational.

Resolven has signed a 70 MW wind power purchase agreement (PPA) with SJVN Limited for a project proposed in Karnataka. Once operational, the wind project is expected to generate approximately 185 GWh of electricity annually, adding to Resolven’s diversified clean energy portfolio.

The company estimates that the project’s annual generation will be sufficient to meet the electricity requirements of more than 45,700 Indian households. It is also expected to avoid around 176,300 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

Karnataka wind project to add 70 MW of capacity

The agreement gives Resolven a new wind energy project in Karnataka under a long-term power procurement arrangement with SJVN. However, the announcement does not disclose the project’s precise location, expected construction timeline, commissioning date, investment or turbine specifications.

The estimated annual generation of 185 GWh represents the expected electricity output once the project becomes operational. The projected emissions avoidance is also an estimate and will depend on the electricity generation displaced by the wind power supplied to the grid.

SJVN expands renewable energy procurement

SJVN Limited, formerly known as Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam, is a public-sector power company with operations across hydropower and other renewable energy segments. Its renewable energy activities include wind and solar power development, supporting India’s broader efforts to diversify its electricity mix.

The PPA with Resolven adds another wind power arrangement to SJVN’s renewable energy procurement portfolio. Further project details, including the power delivery schedule and the identity of the project’s implementing entity, have not been provided in the supplied announcement.

Bioenergy Business Analysis

The agreement highlights the continued development of wind power capacity in Karnataka and the role of power purchase agreements in enabling renewable energy projects. A PPA provides a contractual framework for selling electricity and can help establish revenue visibility for project developers.

For Resolven, the 70 MW agreement represents an addition to its clean energy portfolio. The expected annual generation of 185 GWh suggests a substantial contribution to renewable electricity supply, although actual output will depend on wind conditions, plant availability and grid connectivity.

The project’s progress will become clearer when details on financial closure, construction, grid integration and commissioning are disclosed. Until then, the announced generation and emissions figures should be treated as projections rather than achieved outcomes.
