Suzlon Secures 200 MW Wind Order from Ayana Renewable Power

The project will involve the installation of 64 Suzlon S144 wind turbines, each rated at 3.15 MW, in Limbawas, Madhya Pradesh. Electricity generated by the project will be connected to the Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited (MPPCL) state grid.

The order also takes Suzlon’s S144 turbine platform beyond the 10 GW milestone, according to the company.

200 MW project to be delivered under EPC model

Suzlon will provide an end-to-end engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) package for the project.

The scope includes supply of the wind turbines as well as land acquisition, balance of plant (BoP), pooling substation, extra-high-voltage (EHV) transmission line, project commissioning and operations and maintenance services.

The project adds to Ayana Renewable Power’s growing renewable energy portfolio, which Suzlon said stands at 5.5 GW across wind, solar and round-the-clock renewable power.

Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman and Co-Founder of Suzlon Group, said the company was pleased to partner with Ayana as it expands its wind portfolio and enters Madhya Pradesh.

Tanti also highlighted the state’s potential for future wind development, saying Madhya Pradesh has more than 55 GW of wind potential at a height of 150 metres.

According to Tanti, Suzlon’s latest order follows another wind order secured in the state, pointing to increasing activity in Madhya Pradesh’s wind energy market.

Suzlon expands integrated renewable energy offering

The Ayana contract is also the latest example of Suzlon’s strategy of combining wind turbine manufacturing with project development and execution services.

Ajay Kapur, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, said the company’s end-to-end capabilities allow it to develop and execute wind projects while creating additional business opportunities.

Kapur said Suzlon had secured four wind orders across two states within a short period, which he attributed to the company’s integrated approach to developing renewable energy assets.

The company’s business operations span renewable energy technology, including wind, solar and storage, as well as renewable energy development, project execution and asset management.

S144 platform crosses 10 GW milestone

The new order also marks a milestone for Suzlon’s S144 platform, which has now crossed 10 GW in cumulative orders, according to the company.

The S144 turbines selected for the Ayana project have a rated capacity of 3.15 MW each. With 64 turbines planned for installation, the project will provide 201.6 MW of nameplate turbine capacity, broadly corresponding to the announced 200 MW order.

Suzlon said it currently has more than 22 GW of wind energy capacity installed across 17 countries.

The company describes itself as a wind-focused, full-stack renewable energy solutions provider, with activities spanning renewable energy technology, development, project execution and asset management.

The Madhya Pradesh project will add another utility-scale wind development to Suzlon’s portfolio as the company continues to secure orders in India’s renewable energy market.
