KazMunayGas-Aero and NextChem partner to develop sustainable aviation fuel in Kazakhstan

KazMunayGas-Aero LLP, a subsidiary of Kazakhstan’s national oil and gas company KazMunayGas (KMG), has entered into a cooperation agreement with Italy’s NextChem to develop sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), according to a KMG press release.

The agreement was signed during the Kazakhstan-Italy International Forum held in Milan on October 8, aimed at advancing initiatives for transitioning to new energy sources.

According to the press release, the collaboration will focus on producing environmentally friendly SAF and low-carbon hydrogen through carbon dioxide capture. The partnership will also implement circular solutions in their production processes, which emphasize the reuse, recycling, and restoration of raw materials to minimize waste and environmental impact.

KazMunayGas-Aero LLP, founded in 2014, serves as the sole operator for supplying TS-1/RT jet fuel to the armed forces of Kazakhstan and is also a supplier of gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, and aviation fuel within the country, the press release further added.

NextChem, part of the Maire Tecnimont Group based in Italy, specializes in developing and implementing technologies for low-carbon and circular processes.
