InSolaRE Energy Limited has completed and commissioned a 20 MW AC / 28 MWp DC solar power project at Gurumitkal in Karnataka, adding utility-scale renewable energy capacity to India’s solar infrastructure.
The project, developed across approximately 85 acres for an unnamed renewable energy company, includes 45,920 solar modules, central inverter infrastructure, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, and integrated weather monitoring facilities.
The commissioning marks the completion of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) scope undertaken by InSolaRE Energy, covering engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning.
Project Details and Installed Infrastructure
The Gurumitkal installation has a DC capacity of 28 MWp and an AC capacity of 20 MW. The distinction reflects the solar plant’s installed module capacity and its rated alternating-current output.
According to the company’s project announcement, the facility occupies approximately 85 acres and incorporates 45,920 high-efficiency solar modules.
The SCADA and weather monitoring systems are intended to support plant monitoring and operational management, while the central inverter infrastructure facilitates the conversion of DC electricity generated by the solar modules into AC electricity for grid integration.
EPC Scope and Project Execution
InSolare Energy stated that its responsibilities covered the complete EPC process, from initial engineering and equipment procurement to on-site construction, testing and final commissioning.
The project combines solar generation equipment with monitoring and electrical systems required for utility-scale plant operations. SCADA infrastructure can provide operators with visibility into equipment performance and plant conditions, while weather monitoring supports the assessment of environmental factors affecting solar generation.
The company has not disclosed the identity of the project owner in the supplied announcement. It has also not provided details of the project’s power purchase agreement (PPA), offtake arrangement, commissioning date, expected annual electricity generation or project investment.
InSolare Energy’s Solar EPC Activities
InSolare Energy operates in India’s renewable energy infrastructure market, with activities spanning solar EPC, solar park development and related energy solutions.
Its official website lists commissioned solar projects across multiple Indian states, including Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Telangana. The company also identifies green hydrogen and energy storage among its business areas.
The Gurumitkal project adds to its reported solar EPC execution portfolio, although the company’s announcement does not disclose the client’s identity or the commercial terms of the contract.
Bioenergy Business Analysis
The commissioning highlights the continued role of engineering, procurement and construction contractors in expanding India’s utility-scale solar infrastructure. While project announcements frequently focus on installed capacity, the AC and DC ratings provide different measures of a plant’s design.
At 28 MWp DC and 20 MW AC, the project has a DC-to-AC capacity ratio of 1.4. Such sizing allows the solar module capacity to exceed the inverter’s rated AC output, a configuration commonly used in solar projects to improve inverter utilisation across varying sunlight conditions. Actual generation and performance, however, depend on factors such as module orientation, irradiation, equipment efficiency, system losses and grid conditions.
The installation of SCADA and weather monitoring systems is also relevant to plant operations. Monitoring capabilities can help operators identify performance deviations, assess equipment conditions and manage maintenance requirements.
