Inventive Gas Equipment Pvt. Ltd. has received a Letter of Intent (LOI) from KP Group for a syngas-to-power generation package at NTPC’s waste-to-hydrogen project at the NTPC Energy Technology Research Alliance (NETRA) facility in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
Announced by Inventive Gas Equipment on 4 November 2026, the package covers an integrated solution involving syngas storage, gas pre-treatment and power generation. The company described the assignment as a specialised engineering application requiring system integration and an understanding of syngas characteristics.
The LOI marks Inventive Gas Equipment’s involvement in the NETRA project through the supply of equipment and systems for the syngas-to-power component. The company did not disclose the contract value, package capacity, delivery schedule or commissioning timeline.
NTPC NETRA project converts waste into green hydrogen
The NETRA project is based on plasma gasification technology to produce green hydrogen from municipal solid waste (MSW), refuse-derived fuel (RDF) and agricultural waste.
According to NTPC, the project is an ongoing 1 tonne-per-day green hydrogen plant. Its published configuration includes a plasma gasification block, hydrogen separation, compression and storage systems, and a 400 kW power block.
The process converts waste-derived feedstock into synthesis gas, or syngas, which can be further processed to produce hydrogen. The project is intended to demonstrate a route for recovering energy from waste while supporting hydrogen production.
Inventive expands its specialised gas engineering portfolio
Inventive Gas Equipment said the project builds on its experience across air pollution control, water and wastewater treatment, compressed biogas (CBG), and gas-handling applications.
The company’s stated scope for the new assignment includes syngas storage, gas pre-treatment and power generation. These systems form part of the wider gas-handling and energy-conversion requirements of the NETRA project.
The company also identified hydrogen and syngas applications as areas in which it is expanding its engineering capabilities.
Bioenergy Business Analysis
The LOI highlights the specialised equipment and integration requirements emerging around waste-derived hydrogen projects. While gasification and hydrogen separation are central to the production pathway, gas storage, pre-treatment and power-generation systems are also important components of an integrated facility.
For equipment suppliers, projects such as NTPC NETRA can create opportunities in gas handling and conversion technologies alongside the main hydrogen-generation package. Inventive Gas Equipment’s LOI represents a package-level opportunity within this wider project.
The commercial significance of the assignment will become clearer when further details emerge on the package value, capacity, execution schedule and the company’s final contractual scope.
