Israel to invest 28 million USD in sustainable aviation fuel

The Israel Innovation Authority (IIA) revealed on Wednesday a new investment of 100 million shekels (roughly 27.88 million U.S. dollars) aimed at advancing research in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and intelligent integrated sensing and communication (IISAC), as per the press release.

Over the course of the next three years, this funding will prioritize SAF research, carried out in collaboration with Boeing, alongside the IISAC project, which seeks to integrate positioning, sensing, and communication into a cohesive smart network.

The investment is designed to foster the development of bio-based jet fuel derived from renewable resources, alongside cutting-edge telecom technologies that enhance situational awareness, accelerate response times, and boost network efficiency—key elements for future 5G and 6G systems.

The IIA emphasized that this initiative will help establish Israel as a global leader in deep-tech innovation, strengthen vital industries, and open new global market prospects.

This effort will unite leading Israeli companies, academic institutions, and international collaborators to drive forward the development of advanced sustainable aviation and next-generation communication technologies.
